In 5.24 or newer it's systemsettings > KDE Wallet > uncheck "Enable the KDE wallet subsystem". 1 Answer. Sorted by: 3. Open the Terminal and type sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade first. Then reinstall KDE Desktop with the command sudo apt install --reinstall kde-plasma-desktop. Remember that re-installing plasma will not help with any broken settings, as they are stored in your home folder and are not affected by reinstalling packages.

Doing it that way,it does not really matter what else the metapackages take with them,and it can be quite an enjoyable challenge with a minimal install of Plasma,I have taken it to extremes a bit,and used lots of lighter replacements for KDE apps,some from Xfce like Thunar for the plugins and user scripts,Parole media player,Mousepad,Xfce image
