In general, alcoholic beverages are cheaper in Thailand than in Bali. Getting Around. Getting around Bali and Thailand are two very different experiences. Bali is a relatively small island—a mere mapped dot compared to the whole of Indonesia (5,780 square kilometers). Thailand is huge in comparison (513,120 square kilometers). It receives flights from Singapore, Bali, Jakarta, and even Kuala Lumpur. A one-way trip from Bali will cost you about US$30 and takes less than half an hour. From Bali, you can also catch a ferry or a fast boat leaving from Padang Bai, Serangan or Benoa Harbour. It will take about 2h and arrive either at Senggigi, Lembar, or Bangsal Harbour. Colombia is great for the cities, not so much for the beaches. Bali is also cheaper than Colombia. Bali is nice because you can rent a scooter for pennies and explore the whole island. I think it's 4 hours from the south side of the island to the north side. 47. 13. Gili Islands, Lombok. Recommended by: Stefan & Sebastian from Nomadic Boys. The Gili’s are home to some of the most popular beaches in Indonesia, famous for their white sand, warm tropical waters and abundance of sea turtles just meters from the beach. Swim with the turtles on Gili islands.
I do prefer Bali. Thailand is predominately Buddhist. Bangkok is great for shopping, and sightseeing, a good base for day trips, eg River Kwai, the tigers with the monks, a water canal trip. Phuket is a touristy spot with some nice beaches, some day trips, eg phi phi island, elephant riding, fishing etc.
Lombok attracts visitors year-round for its warm weather and sunny climate. December to February in Koh Samui is the dry season. In January, Koh Samui usually receives less rain than Lombok. Koh Samui gets 51 mm (2 in) of rain, while Lombok receives 97 mm (3.8 in) of rain each month for the winter. In the winter, Koh Samui is cooler than Lombok. TpDadZ.
