The latest profit scheme for America’s “pipeline on rails.”. Already besieged by explosive oil trains and polluting coal trains, rail-line communities in the Pacific Northwest may soon face a new vexation: mile-long trains hauling liquefied natural gas (LNG). It’s thanks to a little-known experiment taking place in Alaska, under test

They are acronyms for the three forms of natural gas: liquefied natural gas (LNG), compressed natural gas (CNG), and renewable natural gas (RNG). We will explore the differences between the three gases and their applications in homes and industries.
Liquified Natural Gas, abbreviated LNG, is a type of Natural Gas Liquid (NGL). LNG is made primarily of methane. By adjusting the temperature of the methane to its hydrocarbon dew point, refineries convert the gas to liquid so it is easier to transport and sell. At ambient pressure, the LNG will be at temperatures approximately –256° F.
One of the most interesting differences in the Marcellus is whether the natural gas produced is considered “wet” or “dry” when produced. That will make a difference in the end usage and products which can be created from the natural gas. Cabot’s operations are in an area of dry gas therefore to get a full perspective, we’ve

Global trade in liquefied natural gas (LNG) is growing significantly, as is interest in the life-cycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with LNG. Most assessments of life-cycle GHG emissions from LNG have employed national or regional average emission estimates; however, there is significant variability in emissions across different suppliers and across the natural gas supply chain

Natural gas buses have 12 percent lower global warming emissions than diesel buses.* Electric bus emissions range from 29 to 87 percent lower than diesel buses and 19 to 85 percent lower than natural gas buses. Here’s a table showing the life cycle global warming emissions per mile from electric buses in all regions of the US.
